West Ealing Placemaking Delivery Plan
Mayor of London funded High Street Place Labs programme has brought together residents, businesses, community organisations, faith groups, schools, developers, landowners, the InWest Ealing BID and young people to shape a shared vision for the future of the town centre. Guided by Ealing’s community-led regeneration charter, the programme has put local voices at the heart of regeneration.
Through the West Ealing Action Group, business engagement and workshops with local young people, stakeholders identified clear priorities: celebrating West Ealing’s unique identity, supporting independent businesses, strengthening community connections, improving safety and creating more opportunities for young people.
These priorities have shaped the new Placemaking Delivery Plan, which focuses on creating a stronger civic heart, improving connections across the town centre, enhancing public spaces and supporting local enterprise through a programme of community-led projects and investment.
The plan identifies three priority areas for action:
- The Civic Heart around Melbourne Avenue and Canberra Road, creating a new community-focused town square, public art, lighting, community gardening and opportunities for local businesses.
- The Green Man Connection, improving routes to Dean Gardens with better lighting, play spaces, community gardens and new opportunities for social activity.
- Singapore and Williams Road, transforming underused spaces through public realm improvements, meanwhile uses, community events and support for independent businesses.
The plan demonstrates how community-led regeneration can build on West Ealing’s existing strengths, ensuring future investment supports the people, places and organisations that already make the area a vibrant and diverse community. Ealing council will be working with the local stakeholders and partners to develop these priorities further and delivery improvements, subject to funding.
